Centrifuge is a device that uses centrifugal force to seprate various components of a fluid. This is achieved by rotating Fluid at high speed (3000 RPM) with in a container. there for seperating fluid of different densities eg cream from milk, liquid from solid.

* principle

The working of a Centrifuge machine  is based on principle of centrifugal force, which act on sample in circular motion then heavier part settled down an base and lighter part on upper part.

* Important component of centrifuge

  • “The centrifuge head (rotor) with tubes or cups with Caution (rubber pad) at the bottom inside the cups or tube.
  • motor drive assembly. 
  • Chamber which Incloses the above mentioned parts.
  • A power switch
  • speed control
  • A Timer
  • Read Rpm of machine
  • Graphite brushes.
  • Cuvette holders



uses:–

  • Centrifuge is used in a laboratory for various purpose
  • sepration of plasma or serum from Red blood cells.
  • sepration of sediment in urine  .
  •  Sepration of protein free filtrate.
  • washing of red blood  Cells by  normal saline .
  • Sepration of antigen bound fraction and antibody bound fraction From the free fraction in Immuno assay .

*Working of centrifuge machine 

  • sample Take a sepration tube and put in Cups of centrifuge machine and balance purpose to the opposite site .same wait tube for balance .
  • side of separation tube are fixed and then tube are balanced .
  •  A power swich is on and rotator is fixed on 3000 RPM for 5 minute to 10 minute .
  • after 3 to 5 minute sample is Collected by the help of Cuvette holder. then sample are separated in another tube .

Care and  maintanence

  • It is regularly clean after work.
  • always clean and dry tube are Use .
  •  If any part is broken • It should be replaced by company service man .
  •  Regular service should be done by authorised person..
  •  Before start machine to check the balance & cups and tubes should be balance properly .

Precaution

  • It should be cups and tubes are check balance properly before working.
  • never try to stop the Centrifuge machine by hand.
  • If any infectious sample then Cover the tube with cotton .
  • If any tube are break in centrifuge machine during centrifuge then stop It and and Immediately clean it.
