Erythropoiesis

Erythropoiesis

Introduction
Stage of erythropoiesis

Introduction

. Erythropoiesis is the process of the origin development and maturation of Erythrocytes.

. Hemopoiesis is the process of origin Development and maturation of blood cells.

Stage of Erythropoiesis

  1. Pro-normoblast or pro-erythroblast
  2. Early normoblast
  3. Intermediate normoblast
  4. Late normoblast
  5. Reticulocyte
  6. Erythrocyte

1.Pronormoblast or Pro-erythroblast

. It is about 12 to 20 microns in diameter. .The cytoplasm is stained with a deep blue color and the nucleus is stained with a radish purple color that contains several darker nuclei of 2 to 5th of the total cell.
. hemoglobin is absent.

2.Earlynormoblast

it is about 10 to 16 microns in diameter.
it shows active mitosis and the size of the nucleus is relatively small and also contains darker nuclei.
Hemoglobin is absent at this stage.
this cell develops into the next stage called intermediate normo-blast.
The cytoplasm is basophilic.

3. intermediate normoblast

cell is smaller than the earlynormoblast with a diameter of 10 to 12 Micron the nucleus is still present.
hemoglobin first appears in the intermediate normo-blast.
Cytoplasm is Basophils.
it stains with both acidic and basic Stain so this cell is polychromophillic.
This cell develops into the next stage called late normo-blast.

4.Latenormoblast

The diameter of the cell further decreases by 8 to 10 microns.
The nucleus becomes very small and the quantity of hemoglobin increases.
The last stage of the late normal blast nucleus disappears and absence is known as pyknosis.
Late normal last developed into the next stage called reticulocyte.

5.Reticulocyte or Juvenile erythrocyte

Reticulocyte is known as immature RBC.
It is larger than mature RBC.
Cytoplasm arranged in network form.
Reticulocyte stain with super vital stain.
Reticulocyte present newborn baby 2 to 6% 100 RBC.
Reticulocytes develop into mature stage RBC in 24 hours.

6.mature erythrocyte

It is a nonnucleated formed element in the Blood.
It is read in color due to the presence of coloring pigment Hemoglobin.
It plays a vital role in the transport of respiratory gases.
The diameter of RBC is 7.2 microns.
It is larger in number.
The shape of a mature RBC is a dumbbell shape.
